Annie Schmieder holds a BS in Education from Central Michigan University with an emphasis in music, art and childhood development. She has over 35 years of professional musical experience as a music educator, music grad student, performer, and music director in many area churches. She taught the last 15 years at East Grand Rapid Public Schools, as one of their elementary music and PE teachers. Annie began her teaching career teaching 6th and 4th grade at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Grand Rapids. While teaching full time, she began teaching private piano, voice, flute, and guitar. As she and her husband began having a family, Annie started going “part time” and focused on her art studio and music teaching in schools and privately. While raising her four children, she continued K-8 Music, education along with singing/playing at hundreds of weddings, funerals and church services for the schools, and weekend liturgies (especially at Immaculate Heart). A big highlight in her career, was directing musicals that led into directing children’s choirs for Broadway tour groups. This part of Annie’s career really inspired her to keep teaching voice with your whole “body, mind, spirit and voice!"
